Think You’re as Smart as a Hacker?

You need to be if you expect to defend against one.

Register and get ‘hands-on’ experience identifying security vulnerabilities through conducive hacking and the chance to win a super cool prize worth up to £300.

How it works

Capture the Flag (CTF) is a type of hacking contest where you have one goal: hack in and find the flags. The more flags you find – the more points you get. The contestant with the most points by the end of the day – WINS.

You’ll receive a login and credentials to a test server at 9 AM on the day of the event. Flags are placed in various locations — they might be in a file, in the database, stuck into source code, or otherwise — and your goal is to hunt them all down before 5 PM that same day. What kind of flags do you ask? You will know them when you see them.

With each flag captured you’ll earn points and move to the next level. There is a total of 6 flags available for capture, each requiring a greater skill level to capture. In addition to the flags, there will be a Knowledge Quiz with questions to test your cyber risk management expertise.

Challenge types:

1. Source the answer

2. The robot

3. Get a room

4. A hidden message

5. Command your way in

6. Root me!!
